Dearest eBay.

Your new feedback policies stink. Any bidder is now free to leave negatives for false reasons or just for the hell of it. I have gotten 2 of those in the past few days. I am not happy with you, dear eBay. You have made it impossible to sell without someone stabbing you in the ass with a fork. The policies that you have created to distinguish retaliatory feedback is giving buyers the incentive to leave more than they ever have before. We the sellers no longer have a voice.

Thanks for nothing,
Teiva

After years of wrong information from various sources, American McGee himself has interviewed the producer of the long fabled American McGee's Alice movie.

Yay!

Note: I'm not sure if everyone agrees with me that this is steampunk or steamgoth. But, I think it should be considered. Especially if you look at the concept art. Or the Mad Hatter especially.

Also, if this is considered inappropriate please remove. I just thought it might interest some of you!

I Want to Believe That This Wont Suck.

The X Files was a great TV show and for many years I thought it was the best TV show ever made – it may well be. There was a period of time when I was a massive and more than slightly obsessive fan, who amassed a rather impressive and expensive collection of memorabilia; signed pictures, clothes, DVD’s, VHS’s, CD’s, trading cards, official trading card folders, rare comics signed by the artist, books, audio books, magazines, badges, stickers, maps, FBI name badges – you name it, I owned it.

Obviously as I have matured somewhat, these things have slowly found there way onto a popular internet auction website. During this period there was nothing I wanted more than a second X Files feature film. Perhaps I wanted it because I never thought it would happen, and when it did, for a moment I was happy, but now I feel rather indifferent.

The truth is that the show in later seasons was really bad, the ideas dried up markedly from the second year in LA (Season 7 onwards) and although there were a few good episodes in Season 8, Season 9 was almost entirely without merit and in all honestly was absolutely terrible. I have the feeling that The X Files: I Want To Believe will be a continuation of this decline, although I don’t even suspect for a minute that it will be nearly as bad as the later seasons, but it seems unlikely that it will ever reach the heady heights of a ‘Tooms’ or a ‘Memento Mori’. There are two main reasons why I’m not very enthusiastic about ‘I Want To Believe’ the first, as I already mentioned, is that the ideas ran out a long time ago, the procedural nature of the shows set up in the early years was destroyed when David got itchy feet and Mulder got shafted into a guest starring role, with no real point or purpose since he discovered the truth about his sister, and left the FBI and all the access, resources and context which this institution provided the show.

The second reason is two fold; age and posterity; I don’t want to sound ageist but I’m tired of seeing my child hood television idols now pushing 50 and trying to relive former glories (I’m looking at you, Sean Bean, in Sharpe). David has said that he wants this film to kick start a franchise of films (Because I love the man, I’m inclined to say that this desire is more hopeful than naïve) but if this happens (it won’t) do we really want to see a 50 something Mulder chasing Aliens? Well, in some ways, the answer is actually ‘Yes’ because it my naivety I always hoped that another X Files movie would mean a return to the procedural nature of the show, a monster of the week, with a dollop of mythology and a stylish, slimmed down, torch light aesthetic.

I was greatly encouraged when the news surfaced of a return to shows spiritual home of Vancouver (Canada) to shoot the movie with the brilliant talent and crews they have over in BC, and even more encouraged when I head the budget was a mere £30 million (about one quarter of that of the bloated but entertaining ‘Fight the Future’). But then the bad news started slipping out; Chris Carter directs; MTV rappers in secondary roles, a focus on Mulder and Scully’s relationship, a summer release date…

Honestly, I hope ‘I Want To Believe’ does well, although my personal feeling is that it will disappoint at the box office but still eventually make money, the critics have already sharpened their pencils for it, but I will certainly be seeing it given my unconditional love for the franchise and cultural phenomenon that is The X Files. Unfortunately the movie isn’t released here until August the 1st, so in some ways I will already knows its destiny before it hits these shores.

Has anyone seen it yet? And what are your thoughts?

Fuck Those Cancer Kids

Normally I try to bring some interest to these write-ups, but this one is just too much. This isn't [info]cf_hardcore, but it damn well could be . . . or SHOULD be, because you should have to hate children to be this nasty about them.

If you were going to be really pissed off about something, what might it be? Corporate welfare? Child molestation?

How about last wishes for kids with cancer?

[info]brennakimi objects to Make A Wish Foundation, as well as a pretend wedding for a dying English child.

She has many cogent and edgy arguments:
millions of kids die every day and no one gives a shit. i can't even begin to fathom how one's last wish would be to get married. it's probably symptomatic of some ridiculous, unhealthy concept of marriage.

it's so nice that rich white people get one last chance at happiness before they die.

the kids are fine. sick. dying. but fine. it's these ridiculous people that think they need to be coddled.

their lives, shy of any treatment and side effects, are pretty much like ours.

I defy any of you to read this one without spiking your blood pressure.

Ganked from the lovely [info]bajingo and the little kids table.

First time poster. Suggestions and CC welcome!

Also, I don't wear anything for blush or bronzer... ever. I'm sure I probably should. With my coloring here, what might you suggest? I've always shied away from pinks because I have such a rosy tone, but now I'm not sure, maybe it could work?

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are back at it again, this time being stupider and less funny.  Seriously, when are these films going to stop?  I'm 22 and am already tired of them.

X-Files: I Want to Believe Review

It has been six years since the last X-Files episode aired, and to be honest, most have not missed it.  But some are like me and have never seen an episode before in my life - making me wonder just how many non-fans will enjoy this film than the die-hards?

Check out my review HERE and be sure to let me know your thoughts.
